Kaitautoko Pūtea | Finance Support
Hours: Part Time | Permanent
Remuneration: $44 - $54 per hour depending on experience.
Ngā Hapū o Ōtaki is seeking a Kaitautoko Pūtea who not only brings strong financial capability, but who also aligns with who we are as an organisation - our values, our people, and our way of working.
While skills and experience are important, what matters most to us is how you show up. Your attitude, your willingness to work collaboratively, your openness to learning and teaching others, and how you fit within a kaupapa Māori, whānau-driven environment will be key to your success in this role.
We are grounded in Kotahitanga and Kaitiakitanga where we support each other to grow, share knowledge, and strengthen our collective capability. Our mahi is people-centred and often extends beyond traditional scope to meet the needs of our whānau and hapū.
In this role, you will provide trusted financial support across Ngā Hapū o Ōtaki, helping ensure our organisation remains financially strong, transparent, and well-supported to deliver for our whānau and hapū. Your mahi will span four key areas:
Financial Management & Reporting - Maintain accurate financial systems and support reporting, including month-end processes, reconciliations, Board reporting, and year-end requirements.
Funding & Compliance - Support the preparation and management of funding applications, contracts, invoicing, and reporting obligations, ensuring compliance with all funding requirements.
Financial Guidance & Operational Support - Work alongside managers and kaimahi to provide budgeting support, financial insight, and practical advice to support decision-making.
Systems, Payroll & Continuous Improvement - Support payroll coordination, financial systems (including Xero), and contribute to improving processes and overall system efficiency.
We are open to experience, but we are more interested in alignment. Ideally, you will bring:
Experience in finance, bookkeeping, or a similar field
Experience with funding applications and reporting
Confidence working in kaupapa Māori environments
Strong collaboration, communication, and relationship-building skills
A values-driven approach to your mahi
We are looking for someone who brings not only strong financial capability, but a calm, collaborative, and grounded approach to their mahi.
This is a role where no two days are the same, and where flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to support across the organisation are just as important as technical expertise.
If you are someone who enjoys working in a values-driven environment and contributing to the bigger picture of hapū and whānau wellbeing, we would love to hear from you.
If you are interested in this role, please apply with your CV and Cover letter by 5pm, Sunday 28th June 2026.
We will be reviewing applications as they come in and may appoint prior to the above application closing date if we find the right person.
