    Our Kāpiti Wellington Operations Team is on the lookout for the next Biodiversity Ranger to join our waka and manage, or contribute to, several work programmes across the district. The mahi is varied – everyday is different!
    Your day-to-day work will take you across the district, carrying out biodiversity work programmes on and off public conservation land, according to work plans.

    Your skills and experience in natural heritage work will be of great help to others and your work will include teaching, coaching, supporting and/or overseeing Rangers, community groups and volunteers doing conservation work in the field.

  • Ranger Project Lead Treaty Implementation

    Are you passionate about being at the forefront of Mana Whenua partnership and conservation leadership in Aotearoa? Join us in working together to protect and celebrate our natural treasures.

    We are looking for a Project Lead Treaty to join the Kāpiti Wellington Operations District Team. In this role, you'll lead key projects that support Treaty Settlement obligations and deliver real, measurable conservation outcomes.
    You'll work collaboratively with Treaty Partners, colleagues, local authorities, NGOs, and other stakeholders to uphold DOC’s statutory responsibilities and foster strong relationships that protect and celebrate our natural heritage.

  • Kaihonoa Taiao / Cadet- Te Pū Hono Programme

    Duration: Up to 3 years starting in January 2026.

    Location: You'll be based in Renwick but will work in different locations around the country.

    Te Papa Atawhai the Department of Conservation is offering an opportunity of a lifetime, to join Te Pū Hono, a 30-month entry-level programme designed to grow Aotearoa’s next generation of conservation rangers.
    Te Pū Hono is a paid cadet program where you'll join a tight-knit group of Kaihonoa Taiao/cadets. The programme is an entry-level pathway into conservation designed to help you build the skills, confidence, and connections you need to become a conservation ranger – by working and gaining experience in the field.
