Kāpiti Coast District Council is seeking an experienced Kaitohutohu Matua Hononga ā-Iwi (Principal Advisor Iwi Partnerships) to help strengthen and guide its partnership with mana whenua across the Kāpiti Coast.
This senior leadership role provides strategic advice on iwi partnerships, Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations, policy, and decision-making. Working closely with senior leaders, elected members, iwi and hapū, you'll help embed Te Ao Māori perspectives across Council strategy, planning, and practice.
What you'll be doing:
Providing senior advice and leadership on iwi partnerships and engagement
Building and maintaining strong relationships with iwi and hapū
Supporting engagement across Council projects and work programmes
Helping embed best-practice partnership approaches throughout the organisation
What you'll bring:
Experience in senior advisory, policy, strategy, or engagement roles
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
Sound judgement and the ability to navigate complex environments
A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori, and Te Ao Māori perspectives
