Kāpiti Coast District Council is seeking a Kaitohutohu Hononga ā-Iwi (Iwi Partnerships Advisor) to support and strengthen its partnership with mana whenua across the Kāpiti Coast.
Working within Te Rōpū Hononga ā-Iwi, you'll play a key role in advancing Te Tiriti-based partnerships, supporting strategic initiatives, and helping embed culturally responsive practices across Council.
What you'll be doing:
Building and maintaining trusted relationships with mana whenua and key internal stakeholders
Providing high-quality advice and briefings to senior leaders and elected members
Supporting frameworks and initiatives that strengthen Te Tiriti-based partnerships across Council
Helping establish and advance a Rōpū Kaimahi Māori
Supporting the development of KCDC's inaugural Rautaki Māori
Contributing to organisational capability building and growth in Te Ao Māori understanding
What you'll bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification and experience in advisory, strategy, policy, te ao Māori, or environmental management roles
Confidence working across te ao Māori, public sector, and iwi/hapū environments
Strong understanding of tikanga Māori and commitment to te reo Māori revitalisation
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
The ability to navigate complex and culturally sensitive environments
